Volvo 480 (440/460): front shock absorber

With my 480 in garage without engine it's a time for many other bit works; since 29years of service, replacing  them it's a good idea.
Isn't a difficult job, with a few tools and 2 or 3 hours anyone can do it, major issue is to provide spare parts; shock absorber are still available on more website (skandix.com, Ebay...)  but upper support strut are discontinued since many years both on Volvo as elsewhere....
Finally i found my support on Polarparts.de; items are not of excellent quality, but I have no choice, they are, in any case more better than the actual broken.

If someone of you want to challenge themselves in this little activity you can find, below,  a series of tips:

REQUIRED TOOLS:
13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22mm spanner
11mm hose couplings key; alternatively, normal 11mm spanner can work as well with a certain attention
6mm allen key
gripper, light hammer, small brush, some rags
spring compressor
penetrating oil (Svitol, WD40 o similar)
metrical socket with 3/8" or 1/2"ratchet are recommended
torque wrench to final tightening is reccomendend (10-80Nm)

SPARE PARTS:
2 x shock absorber(P/N Volvo 30652239) P/N Skandix 1001302
1 x kit dust cover kit with tampon P/N Skandix 1020984
2 x suspension strut support bearing lower (P/N Volvo 3411070) P/N Skandix 1009379

1x strut mounting front right (cod. Volvo 3472744) cod. Polarparts.de 10000291

1 x RH stabilizer rod (P/N Volvo 3467714) P/N Skandix 1001215
1 x LH stabilizer rod (P/N Volvo 3467713) P/N Skandix 1001216.

TORQUE WRENCH SETTINGS (Nm)
anti roll bar connecting rod - 35
suspension strut to stub axle - 100 (use new nuts and bolts)
upper strut mounting to body - 25
shock absorber retaining nut - 65

Below you can see some pictures during work:

Later car have a flexible brake hoses fixed to suspension strut by a small clip and slot are open to  allow hose extraction; howewer early model have brake hoses slotted in a close hole in suspension strut. If your flexible brake hoses are fit in slotted bracket you are liable to disconnect it to hard pipe. To do this, first clean as well conncting area to avoid that dirt can panetrate in brake circuit.
Bearing in mind that brake fluid IS POISONOUS, HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND CAN CORRODE BODY PAINT; USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES; DO NOT DISCARD BRAKE FLUID OR WET RAGS  IN THE ENVIRONMENT OR IN DOMESTIC WASTE.

Suspension strut/stub axle disconnecting (19 and 16mm spanner/socket)
Stabilizer rod disconnecting (2 x17mm spanner)

suspension strut are free at the bottom
unscrew 2 turn upper shock absorber retaing nut (22mm spanner and 6mm allen key)
unscrew 3 bolts retaining upper strut mounting
suspension strut on the bench

spring compressor fitting
spring is now compressed
you can see all suspension item

upper mounting is visibly broken
you can see a difference between a new tampon and what remains of old tampon....
new tampon fittings
afterwards 29 years of rain and mud a little spraying will do well to them!
suspension strut riassembly
during spring compressor releasing take care that spring is properly in seat
